Abstract
After right hemicolectomy, postoperative bleeding led to life-threatening anemia in 60-yr-old Jehovah¡®s Witness who refused blood transfusion. Hemoglobin level decreased to 4.1 g/dl. The patient maintained consciousness and self ventilation, because he refused sedation and ventilatory assistance. He demonstrated mild cognitive dysfunction in mini-mental state examination despite presented alert mental state and hemodynamical stability. Therefore, in severe anemic patients, recommend cognitive function test even in the hemodynamically stable patients.
